The golden rules
A guide by material
Natural metals that develop a soft patina over time. Some people love the aged look — others prefer the shine.
Polish with a dry, soft cloth to restore shineSilver tarnishes naturally with air and humidity. It's not damage — it's chemistry — and it's easy to reverse.
Store in an airtight pouch to slow tarnishingEach petal is painted and sealed by hand. It's light as paper but should be treated gently — no drops, no pulling.
Keep away from water and sharp objectsPearls are porous and absorb whatever they touch. They love being worn — the oils in your skin keep them lustrous.
Wipe with a soft cloth after every wearHand-woven cotton and silk — beautiful and surprisingly durable, but they don't like being soaked or pulled.
Keep dry; spot-clean only with a damp clothThe colour is permanent — glass doesn't fade or tarnish. Just be careful not to drop them on hard surfaces.
Check the thread between beads for wearWhen it needs a refresh
Most days, a soft, dry cloth is all it needs. Wipe gently — never scrub.
For metal pieces, use a barely damp cloth with lukewarm water. No soap, no soaking.
Pat dry immediately. Moisture left in crevices is what causes tarnishing.
Return the piece to its pouch — away from sunlight, heat and humidity.

Quick answers
My brass piece has changed colour — is it damaged?
No — it's natural patina. Brass and copper react to air and skin oils, developing a warm, aged tone. A gentle polish with a dry cloth brings the shine back if you prefer it.
Can I wear my piece in the shower?
We don't recommend it. Water and soap dull the finish over time, and moisture trapped in crevices causes tarnishing. Best to take it off first.
What should I do if a bead comes loose?
Don't pull at it. Message us with a photo and we'll repair it for free. If a bead is missing, we'll do our best to match it from the same batch.
How do I clean a clay or painted piece?
Wipe gently with a dry, soft cloth. Never use water, soap or cleanser on painted pieces — they can strip the seal.
Can I use a silver polishing cloth?
Yes — silver polishing cloths are fine for sterling silver and brass. Avoid polishing cloths on pearls, painted clay or thread pieces.
What if I've lost the original pouch?
A soft cloth bag or a small jewellery box works just as well. The important thing is keeping the piece dry and separate from other jewellery.
